Mid Level

For People improves digital services for disadvantaged and vulnerable populations by embedding directly in government agencies. We modernize software, systems, and platforms to ensure they better serve the people who need them the most. We're a fully remote, human-centered team that prioritizes positive work-life balance and the well-being of our people.

Your Impact

As a UX Designer and Researcher at For People, you will contribute to transforming the user experience for the Medicaid Drug Program (MDP) product suite at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Your work will contribute to ensuring that Medicaid beneficiaries have access to affordable medications by improving the usability, accessibility, and overall effectiveness of the digital tools used for drug pricing negotiations, compliance tracking, and cost transparency.

You will apply research methods to understand the needs of state officials, drug manufacturers, and CMS administrators, translating those insights into intuitive, accessible, and visually effective designs. In this role, you will not only identify user pain points but also craft elegant solutions, using wireframing, prototyping, and iterative design to improve digital workflows and interactions. Your work will ensure that complex government systems are not just functional but also visually clear, easy to navigate, and engaging for end users.

Our Culture

For People is a team of humans. We place a significant amount of emphasis on positive work-life balance, setting healthy expectations, and making sure our loved ones are taken care of first. That means picking a child up from school during the day or going for a mid-day walk is okay!

Our entire team is remote across the United States, from the West Coast to the East Coast. There will never be a return-to-office, as we have none!

Your Opportunities

On the MDP project, you will work closely with product teams to:

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative user research to understand the needs of various user roles such as state users, Division of Pharmacy staff, and drug manufacturers.
  • Translate research findings into actionable designs by creating wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to improve usability.
  • Present research insights in accessible ways to foster actionable improvements.
  • Support strong relationships with CMS and the Division of Pharmacy by focusing on mutual goals and outcomes.
  • Facilitate usability testing and iterative design to refine and enhance product features based on real user feedback.
  • Ensure accessibility and compliance with design standards, including Section 508 and the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS).
  • Use tools like Figma, Figjam, and Dovetail for research synthesis, visualization, and design execution.

You Bring

  • 4+ years of experience conducting user experience research and designing for accessible, intuitive digital products or services, ideally within government or highly regulated sectors.
  • Experience translating insights about user experience and business needs into product designs through wireframes, prototypes, and iterative designs.
  • Familiarity with key research methodologies, including user interviews, usability testing, and journey mapping.
  • Familiarity with design systems.
  • Facilitation skills that make usability findings turn into design decisions.
  • Experience collaborating within agile teams, documenting workflows, and understanding complex user environments.
  • Basic knowledge of tools like Figma, Figjam, and Dovetail for research documentation and visualization.
  • Strong attention to detail and a flexible, adaptive approach to research and design priorities.
It would be great if you also have:
  • Experience working directly with government partners in a consulting or embedded role.
  • Experience working with government-specific design systems, such as the US Web Design System
  • A portfolio showcasing previous work in enterprise service design, Medicaid/Medicare digital services, or public sector UX strategy.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
